Eagles soar at South junior badminton

   East advance six, while Parkside and Central Elgin advance five each

AYLMER, Ont. - The East Elgin Eagles soared on home court at Thames Valley Region Athletics (TVRA) South junior badminton April 14.

The Eagles won two disciplines and qualified six players for the SouthEast championships next week at Parkside CI.

Maddie Wiebe won girls singles, while Chloe Froese and Kalli Zacharias, took the girls doubles title.

The top four in each of the five disciplines, advance to the SouthEast tournament.

Sofie Bubb-Clarke (second, girls singles), Louisa Begemann (fourth, girls singles), Hadley Botzang and Sophia Gavey (girls doubles) and Weston Underhill and Ella Bridge (mixed doubles), all move on.

The Parkside Stampeders also won two disciplines, qualifying five for the SouthEast event.

Charlie Gunn won men's singles and Liam Dlouhy and Grace Amos are the mixed doubles champs.

The Central Elgin Titans were led by the boys doubles winners, Hudson McQuiggan and Layne Stirling.
