STRATFORD, Ont. - For a third consecutive year the Parkside Stampeders ended their season at OFSAA.

This year the Stampeders finished 1-2 at OFSAA A/AA girls rugby, June 4-6.

"It's well deserved. Our team works hard and it brings us here every year and we get to have fun," Parkside captain Kenzie Clinton said. "The biggest thing for us is the team environment we create here."

In their opening game, the Stampeders couldn't stop Mel Rodriguez who scored four tries, to lead Toronto Henry Newman, to a 29-5 win.

"She would just find a gap and go. It was an even match other than her," said Clinton.

Avery Wadsworth had the Stampeders' lone score.

In game two, Parkside received a pair of tries from their captain in a 20-0 blanking of Winghan Madill, 20-0. Izzy Rodgers and Brynley Martin also scored.

Sudbury LaSalle ended Parkside's run with a 19-0 victory.

Peterborough Holy Cross romped their way capturing the AA title, shelling Bayside from Belleville, 52-10, in the final. Smith Falls won bronze and LaSalle, the consolation banner.

Parkside won their third consecutive A/AA title, dropping the Madill Mustangs, 31-10, in the final May 28 on home field.

Katelyn Dimoff with two, Rodgers, Wadsworth and Makayla Byfield-Holness, scored tries.

Lily Sawyer kicked three two-point converts.

A year ago, Parkside rolled St. Anne's from Clinton, 48-7, a year after the Stampeders got by Madill, 26-19.

Twice Parkside has won WOSSAA at the AAA level, beating Stratford District in 2022, 17-12 and dumping Medway, 19-7, in 2019.

The Stampeders' lone loss at WOSSAA came in 2018, losing the AA game to Stratford St. Mike's, 19-12.

As for the captain, Clinton graduates and will continue her education, studying Sociology and Criminology at Windsor University.

Clinton gained an appreciation for rugby with her four year at Parkside.

"It has made my experience with the sport very strong and I've found a love for it," Clinton said.
