KITCHENER, Ont. - The Parkside Stampeders accomplished a lot at their first OFSAA girls volleyball in 25 years.

There was no medal brought home, but the Stampeders compiled a 5-2 record and played on all three days of the provincial high school tournament, March 9-11 at Conestoga College.

Closing out their tournament was a three games to none loss to Mississauga Lorne Park in the OFSAA AA consolation final.

Parkside places 10th overall.

"It was a great experience all around for our girls and I'm proud of the way they played," Parkside coach Chris Palmer said. "It was nice to be around for a few more matches and get our juniors a little bit of time and soak in those moments for our four seniors. Sticking around for the consolation is where we were meant to be. We would have lost in the quarters unless we played out of our minds (versus Toronto Branksome Hall, the top seed and eventual gold medalist)."

Parkside had three wins and a loss in pool play, but so did Sudbury Lockerby and Oakville King's Christian. Parkside beat King's Christian, but lost to Lockerby, while Lockerby lost to King's Christian.

King's Christian had the better win-loss set/game record (3-2) among the three teams, to take first in the pool. In a tie-breaker game, for a spot on the championship bracket, Lockerby beat Parkside.

Both King's Christian and Lockerby loss their best of five game quarterfinals in three straight games.

On the consolation bracket, Parkside beat Manitoulin in the quarters and Port Perry in the semifinals.

"I've coached a lot of girls and boys volleyball, 28-29 teams, and it's really hard to make it here," Palmer said. "We've had some really good teams that weren't able to make it here. It's special just to get here and even more special to play like we did, to go 3-1 in round robin play, and stick around."

Branksome Hall, out of Toronto, went 7-0, dropping only one game, on their way to the OFSAA title, defeating Aurora in the final. Cobourg St. Mary took home bronze.

The Stampeders will remain OFSAA contenders next year, with four Grade 11 starters returning (Kerris Moore, Carerah Perry, Brooke Buttinger, setter Emilee Mrozowski).

Stratford St. Mike's will be the 2027 OFSAA AA host.

"I'd like to be at St. Mike's next year," Palmer said. "We'll definitely be challenging for it (WOSSAA gold)."

Blaire Dawdy, Ms Volleyball for the TVRA South-East, heads to Niagara College next year.

At 1-A OFSAA in North Bay, St. Marys DVCI went 1-3 in pool play and lost in a consolation semifinal.

London Aquinas brought home antique bronze from AAA OFSAA in Windsor, losing the bronze medal match to Whitby Brooklin.
