Boutette scores twice as Dorchester defeats St. Mikes, 3-1, in girls soccer AA final

STRATFORD, Ont. - The Dorchester Beavers will making a seventh straight appearance at OFSAA girls soccer.
Hannah Boutette scored twice and Sienna Brown had the game winning goal, as the Beavers defeated Stratford St. Mike's Warriors, 3-1, in the WOSSAA AA final May 26 at Cowan Park.
"It feels amazing to go to OFSAA for my third time. There's nothing like going with your friends, going out and having fun and hopefully winning," said Boutette. "Everyone has such a good bond. It's a small town. Everyone has a good friendship and works together well. We've grown together as a group.
The Beavers were holding off the Warriors, 2-1, when Boutette headed in a ball from a free kick by Georgia Robinson.
"I got on the back of it, beating the defender. It did bounce and I got my head on it," Boutette said. "I was so excited. I knew once we got that third goal, we were secured. They weren't getting two on us."
Earlier in the day, Dorchester shutout London RMC, 2-0, in the semifinals, with team captain Megan McLachlin and Jamie Ryall scoring.
"We all stepped up to how we had to play. Everyone did their jobs. We trusted each other," said McLachlin, who heads to OFSAA for a fourth time. "We all get along and we understand each other's style of play. We had some new girls who stepped up this year.
The Beavers head to OFSAA, for the seventh consecutive season, the past three years at the AA level, June 4-6 in Belleville.
"There's really amazing competition. We have to limit our own mistakes," said McLachlin. "Also, get ready for a really good time. It's a lot of fun with your teammates. It's one of my favourite times."
The Beavers won the bronze medal two years at OFSAA AA, held in St. Thomas. Last year, the Beavers lost in the quarterfinals.
Dorchester was back to back OFSAA 1-A champs in 2022 and 2023.
"At tryouts the conversation with (coach Andreas Nolte), was our goal is OFSAA," Boutette said. "Every year we don't care about anything else but OFSAA."
The Beavers went undefeated in Thames Valley Regional play this year, going 6-0-1 overall in he South-East, including downing Parkside, 7-3, in the final.
Parkside takes bronze
The Parkside Stampeders beat RMC in the WOSSAA bronze medal game, after falling
to St. Mike's, 5-0, in the semifinals.
In the boys AA gold match, London Westminster defeated Woodstock St. Mary's, 3-1.
At single-A WOSSAA, Strathroy Holy Cross won the girls title, while South Huron took boys gold.
In AAA, Mother Theresa blanked Aquinas, 3-0, in the boys gold match, while Aquinas blanked Medway by the same score for girls gold.
